Wat Tai Koh
Wat Tai Koh is situated in Tai Koh sub-district, Sam Khok district, Pathum Thani province. This Buddhist temple enshrines the province’s largest Mon-influenced pagoda situated in the front area of the temple. Another striking highlight of the temple is the two pavilions, which were graciously visited and resided in by King Chulalongkorn the Great or King Rama V on July 29, 1907.
The temple also exhibits a huge mounted alligator that appeared as a legendary reference for the abundance of alligators in the area known as “Wang Jam”, meaning the empire of the alligators, among Mon people. However, another historical reference has been unveiled suggesting that Mon immigrants dwelling in this area were migrated from the village named “Wiang Jam” in their original homeland.
